About this listing
The working glossary I have built over fifteen years of marine equipment, machine tool and industrial machinery translation, cleaned up and published.
2,400 entries covering hull and deck fittings, refrigeration and hydraulic systems, engine components, fasteners, materials, inspection and defect vocabulary, and the standard phrasing used in Japanese service manuals for warnings, cautions and prohibitions.
Each entry gives the Japanese term, reading in kana, my recommended English, and where relevant a note on the alternatives and which industries prefer which. The notes are the valuable part. Anyone can find a dictionary entry for a term with one meaning. What costs you a day is the term with four plausible English options where three of them will make a parts orderer send the wrong thing.
Supplied as CSV, TBX and a memoQ term base package. No licence restrictions on use in your own work. Free lifetime updates, and I revise it two or three times a year.
Honest note: this is aimed at working translators and at technical writers in importer companies. If you need one document translated, buy the translation, not this.
