Eleven years, 31.4 million dollars awarded, 61 percent hit rate on federal submissions. I work with organizations too small to have a grants person: rural fire protection districts, water and sanitation boards, small county departments and nonprofits under about two million in annual budget.
What you get is one person who writes the narrative, builds the budget, assembles the attachments, runs the submission and then, if you want, handles the reporting and drawdowns after the award, which is where most small districts quietly get themselves in trouble.
I charge a flat fee per application, agreed before I start. I never take a percentage of an award. On federal funds that arrangement is not allowed, and anybody offering it is telling you something about how they work.
I also say no. About a third of the eligibility calls I take end with me telling a board they are not competitive this cycle and what to spend the next eighteen months on instead. Those calls are free and they are the most useful thing I do.
Based in Colorado Springs. I work across the Front Range and the eastern plains, mostly remotely, and I will drive to a board meeting when the project is big enough to deserve it.
