About this service
Most Baltimore cornices are still there under the aluminum somebody wrapped them in during the seventies. We take the wrap off, see what survived, and repair rather than replace wherever the original material can be saved.
Scope typically includes staging the front, removing later cladding, cutting out rotted or corroded sections, repairing or replicating brackets, dentils, modillions and the crown profile to match what is there, rebuilding the box and the roof flashing behind it so water stops getting in, and priming and painting.
Where original galvanized metalwork is intact we restore and coat it. Where a section is gone we mill or fabricate a match from the neighbors on the block, because the whole point of a row is that it reads as one thing from the sidewalk.
Priced per front after a look and a set of photographs. The figure shown is what a typical sixteen foot front with moderate rot has run us recently. A front that has been open to weather for a decade will be more, and we will tell you before we start, not after.
Baltimore city and close in county. Deposit at scheduling, balance at completion.
