I have been doing books for San Francisco trades since 2006. Painters, electricians, caterers, a furniture maker, a tattoo studio, and a landscaping crew that has been with me eighteen years. This shop is for the parts of my work that can be bought as a defined thing rather than a relationship: a quarterly bookkeeping engagement, a two-hour session to unpick a mess, and the job costing spreadsheet I have rebuilt for clients about forty times over the years. How I work. I answer the phone, including in February. I quote before I start, and if I am going to go over I call you first. I do not sell software, I take no referral fees from anybody, and if you would be better served by a bigger firm I will tell you and give you two names. I take six new ongoing clients a year. The one-off sessions and the spreadsheet have no limit, so if you just need help once, start there and we never have to talk about a retainer.
